The Dark Side of Attraction: How It Leads Astray

In today's society, the Law of Attraction has gained widespread popularity, promising individuals the ability to manifest their desires simply by focusing their thoughts. While this concept may sound appealing on the surface, delving deeper reveals a darker reality. The allure of material wealth and worldly success often blinds individuals to the true purpose of life, leading them astray from God's intended path.

Scripture serves as a guiding light, illuminating the stark contrast between the Law of Attraction and God's law of increase. Let's explore three key scriptures that shed light on this profound truth:

1. Matthew 6:19-21 (NIV): "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

   - This scripture warns against the folly of placing one's focus solely on material possessions. While the Law of Attraction may promise wealth and abundance, true treasures lie in the spiritual realm, where they are everlasting and immune to decay.

2. 1 Timothy 6:9-10 (NIV): "Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."

   - Here, the apostle Paul cautions against the dangers of pursuing wealth for its own sake. The Law of Attraction often fosters a relentless pursuit of material gain, leading individuals down a path of greed, corruption, and spiritual bankruptcy.

3. Galatians 5:16-17 (NIV): "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh."

   - This scripture underscores the importance of aligning our desires with the will of God. While the Law of Attraction encourages the fulfillment of personal desires, God's law calls us to seek first His kingdom and righteousness, trusting Him to provide for our needs.

In conclusion, while the Law of Attraction may promise temporal gratification, it ultimately leads to spiritual bankruptcy. By contrast, embracing God's law of increase offers true abundance, both in this life and the next. Let us heed the wisdom of scripture and seek fulfillment in God's eternal promises rather than fleeting worldly desires.
